Designing a brand for the Nootropic craze

Nootropics are on the rise as a more health concious consumer audience looks to have products that are not only tasty, but are good for the body.

Introducing Olakino…

Named from the Hawaiian word "Olakino" meaning "health" or "wellness”, Olakino is an energy drink with zero caffiene boasting a powerful nootropic mixture improving many vital markers.

Logo Brainstorm

I knew I wanted the Logo to reflect the Hawaiian origin of the drink while also showing it was an energy drink. I wanted to show that something natural could be equally as vibrant as the other chemical and caffiene based energy drinks on the market.

Refined Logo

Despite all the sketches, I did not transfer any of them directly. I liked the idea of a lightning bolt and a Hawaiian hibiscus flower. My final iteration was a combination of both to give an energetic but natural feel.

Moodboard

To help brainstorm the colors and adjectives I chose above, I collected stock images and put them together to visualize the mental imagery I wanted associated with the brand.

Pattern

I wanted to have a basic pattern in the style of the logo to be used in promotional materials and possible future packaging, I opted to split the logo into it’s thunder bolt and hibiscus flower seperately then added a water drop.

The Can

To finish this conceptual project, I designed the can the drink would go into with three inital flavors. Below is a mockup and label.
